SMASH‘N’BASH @ PEMBREY CIRCUIT 2011

9th & 10th APRIL

BTRA MEETING PEMBREY

No Limit RC UK 2011 kicked off at a sunny Pembrey Race Circuit, where the second Truck Meeting of the race season was being held – with support racing from Pick-up Trucks and Open Wheelers.

MM(ube)R ventured over the Severn Bridge to join No Limit RC for a weekend of bashing and to enjoy some Welsh hospitality.

As this was the first meeting of the year, Saturday was a try-out day to run the HPI Racing Bajas, Savage XL’s, Trophy Truggies and Blitzes.

Phil Davies, Manager of the circuit, very kindly provided us with a pitting trailer, barriers, an extremely large racing area and 3 wrecker cars for our new Bash‘N’Smash show.

On Saturday, No Limit and MM(ube)R gave ‘big air’ demo’s by jumping over the wrecker cars as well as close formation Baja race-chase drag racing around our compound.

After the Truck Racing had finished for the day, No Limit RC had some fun planned for the HPI Baja bashers. Everyone trooped over to the old kart track (which is now used for drifting & a 4-wheel drive circuit). There was a natural shaped oval on very slippery and dusty tarmac, where the HPI Bajas could do some serious bashing – total mayhem! – anything from 2 to 11 Bajas on the track sliding, slipping and donuting at full throttle for about an hour. A manic end to Saturday.

There was food, drink and entertainment in the ‘Formula One’ bar that night, which made for a relaxing evening.

Sunday was another bright sunny day. The wrecker cars had been rearranged, and using some boards found in the trailer, a Baja wrecker-car rock-crawling course provided some fun, as well as the usual big-air jumping and Baja bashing around the track. There was good crowd attendance to watch the Truck Racing and No Limit & MM(ube)R had an appreciative audience throughout the day. The ‘piece-de-resistance’ - mid afternoon before the crowds started to disappear – was to line up a Baja and one of the jumps in front of one of the wreckers. The windscreen didn’t last long! The open tailgate was next; the jump was lined up again – the first Baja smashed through the tailgate glass, followed by half-a-dozen others jumping through the windowless tailgate. It looked really spectacular! The windscreens and tailgates on the remaining wreckers soon went the same way. The first Bash’N’Smash was all it was cracked up to be! The only Baja damage was a steering link which popped off and which was easily reattached. A perfect end to sunny Sunday.

MONSTER JAM 2010

9th OCTOBER

MILLENIUM STADIUM - CARDIFF

Another early start – another Monster Jam!

No Limit arrived at the Millenium Stadium at 7.45 am but could not get into the arena to set up the stands and demo area because there were a couple of Monster Trucks and an army tank in our area of the stadium – Monster Trucks & tank v. RC Cars, no contest! When we were eventually allowed in, it was a totally awesome sight – the spotlights were on and all 12 Monster Trucks and jumps were ready and waiting for the Pit Party. There was Captains Curse & Alex Blackwell, Disney XD & Dan Evans, El Toro Loco & Damon Bradshaw, Gravedigger & Charlie Pauken, Iron Man & Lee O,Donnell, Mohawk Warrior & George Balhan, Monster Mutt Dalmation & Candice Jolly, Nitro Circus & Cam McQueen, Podzilla & Drew Thornton, Swamp Thing & Tony Dixon, Taz & Frank Krmel and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle & John Seasock.

No Limit managed to get their static displays of rc cars, trucks and replica scale monster trucks, which included Gravedigger, Taz, Monster Mutt Dalmation, Monster Mutt and Batman. and the rc demonstration area, ready with just 15 minutes to spare before pit party time. We also had on display a pulling sled for use with nitro trucks, made by (www.outlawhobby.com), which was quite a novelty. Thousands of people arrived at the pit party and, as at the NIA, the rc cars attracted a lot of interest, from youngsters to pensioners. We had drivers from MMR Largescale (www.mmrlargescale.co.uk) and Manselton Models (www.manseltonmodels.co.uk) with us this time and everyone put on an excellent display of jumping, drifting and doughnuts using HPI Savage XL’s, (www.hpieurope.com) Bajas and Trophy Trucks for the 3 hour pit party, keeping the crowds happy, which were 6 - 8 deep at our barriers for most of the time.

At the end of the pit party, there was a big rush to clear everything away in an hour, in readiness for the Monster Jam. One of the show marshals came over while we were still clearing up and casually informed the rc drivers that they were doing the pre-show display in the main arena in 10 minutes and to be ready, which caused a bit of panic with the drivers trying to sort out their cars. But they were ready on time and the HPI cars were used to their full potential and more by jumping the full size mounds of earth that had cars set into them, which kept the spectators entertained with their high flying action, and which were later used by the full size monster trucks.

The Monster Jam show was amazing, with the race-off’s and freestyle runs – how does a five ton Monster Truck do that?!

The Monster Truck racing final was between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and eventual winner, El Toro Loco. El Toro Loco also went on to win the freestyle competition, tying with Gravedigger but winning with bonus points gained during extra time, which meant he won the Double Down trophy for winning both competitions on the day.

We all had a lot of fun – not many can say that they have been part of such a big event as this. Thank you Monster Jam for letting us be part of your spectacular shows!

Many thanks go to our main sponsor - HPI UK - for all their support and assistance for these shows and throughout the 2010 season.

Thanks also go to Monster Energy for their sponsorship this year.

Also many thanks go to Terry of "Haverfordwest Model Centre" for continuous help during the year.

We’re looking forward to the 2011 season –BRING IT ON !

MONSTER JAM FREESTYLE 2010

18th SEPTEMBER

NIA – BIRMINGHAM

After a very early start from home (4.15 a.m.) the No Limit UK crew arrived at the NIA with plenty of time to set up a static display of RC cars, trucks and scale replicas for the Monster Jam Pit Party at 10.30 a.m, where the public come to meet the Monster Jam drivers and their trucks. Charlie Pauken – Gravedigger and Candice Jolly - Monster Mutt Dalmation came over to check out our display and talked to us about the replicas we had of their trucks. Little Monster Mutt took pride of place on top of one of real Monster Mutt’s wheels for the Pit Party.

Six Monster Trucks were at the NIA – Gravedigger with Charlie Pauken, Captains Curse with Alex Blackwell, Monster Mutt Dalmation with Candice Jolly, Disney XD with Dan Evans, Iron Man with Lee O’Donnell and the British Monster Truck – Swamp Thing with Tony Dixon, who all put on an excellent 2 shows.

There were two Monster Jam shows - one at 1.30 p.m., the other at 6.30 p.m. No Limit UK did a 30 minute pre show display for both shows. At half time in each show there were brilliant acrodatic displays by freestyle motocross riders, BMX bike riders, freestyle sportsbikes and a quadbike!

The three hours between shows was put to good use by the No Limit UK drivers who used the time to prepare their HPI Savages, Trophy Trucks and Bajas for the next display and also to take advantage of the excellent catering facilities. At the end of the show everyone agreed that it had been a thoroughly enjoyable Monster day.

Thanks go to HPI UK for all their support and assistance with spares etc.

SOUTH WEST MODEL EXHIBITION 2010

17th & 18th APRIL

BATH & WEST SHOWGROUND, SHEPTON MALLET

No Limit RC UK’s second show of 2010 was at the South West Model Engineering Exhibition, Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet www.swmee.co.uk on Saturday and Sunday 17th/18th April. This was the third year of the show and with over 10,000 visitors, was the best attended. Having a fine, sunny weekend helped too.

The Show organisers supplied us with a vehicle which was incorporated into our jumps display and ended up looking rather battered and dented by the end of the weekend. The crowds were enjoying the vehicle-bashing as much as the RC drivers. Our display generated a lot of interest, with a regular audience watching and asking us questions about our HPI cars, throughout Saturday and Sunday.

A few of the MMR Largescale team joined in with us, and found out how high and far HPI Bajas can really jump.

There are a number of awards given out at the show, and No Limit RC UK (www.nolimitrcuk.com) won the ‘Best Moving Display’ award – there were planes, boats, trains, tanks, daleks and other rc car displays – so we were really pleased.

Many thanks to the organisers of the show who made it such an enjoyable weekend for us all.

We look forward to next year!

NO LIMIT RC UK 2010

27th & 28th MARCH

PEMBREY RACE CIRCUIT

No Limit RC UK‚s first show of 2010 took place on 27th/28th March at Pembrey Race Circuit - (Home of Welsh Motorsport), which was hosting that weekend a round of the [full size] British Truck Racing Series.

The advertised race day was Sunday; Saturday was qualifying only and this was reflected by the number of people who attended. Therefore this day was used to tune and test our RC cars, Trophy Truggies, Savages and Baja 5B‚s.

Sunday turned out to be a bright and dry day which drew in the crowds. Pembrey Circuit had provided us with 2 of their circuit cars which the No Limit crew incorporated into the ramp-jumping which, as well as giving some serious air-time, made for a fun and exciting display and demonstrated what HPI RC cars are capable of.

Thanks to Phil Davies (Pembrey Circuit Manager) and Dan for making the weekend so enjoyable for No Limit RC UK.
